Scottish FA Social Campaign
Loop was commissioned by the Scottish FA to produce a series of bespoke graphics for a retro themed campaign they were running across their social media channels celebrating 2 iconic years in Scottish football history 1990 and 1996. Both weeks celebrated classic goals, players and kits from that time to keep the Scottish fans engaged with the team when there were no live games on the horizon.
We created a series of stylised graphics to provide visual engagement with the chosen themes. In a fun twist we created Panini football sticker style player graphics that featured current players in retro kits and classic players in current kits. We saw John McGinn in the iconic 1990 home kit and current captain Andy Robertson in the away kit which were both worn by Scotland as they competed in Italia 90. For the 1996 campaign there was a role reversal where iconic players such as Ally McCoist and John Collins were featured in the current Scotland home kits.
The creative was very well received and after a fantastic response from the fans, these Scottish icons then featured on the next match day programmes for the Men’s A team with matches against Belgium and Albania. Another set of icons were commissioned in the following months incorporating past and present players such as Kieran Tierney and Graeme Souness sporting the 1985 and 2019 kits respectively. A great project for our football loving designers to be involved in; getting the chance to visually bring together the iconic kits and players of the past and present.
